Oxford properties, new roof including mechanical equipment
Erecting a structure over the 26th floor of a building in downtown Montreal is no picnic. To reduce road traffic interruptions and minimise the usage of a 600-ton crane, here are the solutions that were found by Sofab:
- Specific jobsite statements of the existing concrete structure
- Meticulous coordination of the structure with existing and new mechanical equipment
- Planification of the fabrication in 2 large frames of 26 ft x 26 ft (8 m x 8 m)
- Pre-assembly on the ground with a standard size crane
- Installation of two frames with a 600-ton crane in only a few hours
This ingenious idea allowed the erection of the structure during a single weekend and to free the public spaces quickly.
